What is a toughened Radiator Cover?

Radiator Covers made from glass look wonderful in any room. Glass has the magical quality of reflecting light and creating a stunning warmth effect that cannot be achieved with wooden covers or something that covers the radiator in its entirety.

Radiator covers by their very nature permanently cover up what is beneath them and that means you can change the look of your room without damaging, replacing or painting your radiators.

Will a glass radiator cover affect the heat from the radiator?

No, radiators fitted with glass covers work in exactly the same way as those without. Radiators work via convection not, as the name would suggest, radiating.

The cold air is heated and it makes its way up the radiator face, back and internal elements then carries on rising to heat the room. Having something on the front of the radiator makes no difference to this action.

How do glass radiators covers fit?

Most covers available are based on a 2 hook and sit fixing system. A great benefit to glass radiators is that they can be adjusted before fixing in place to provide a firm fit onto your radiator ensuring minimal movement when fitting.

It’s possible to fix a glass radiator without taking advantage of the manufacturer’s fixing kit. If you want to secure your glass radiator cover using screws, you will need to drill holes into the metalwork first which can be dangerous and potentially damaging.

If you choose not to follow the manufacturer’s guide or use their recommended fittings you may invalidate the warranty on both the cover and the radiator.
